Holland Neighborhood January Social & Potluck
In addition to the delicious dishes that neighbors are encouraged to bring and share, we’re excited to announce that a taco bar will be provided by El Taco Riendo, a local favorite known for its authentic Mexican cuisine.
Date: Thursday, January 9, 2025
Time: 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM
Location: Firefighters Museum | 664 22nd Ave NE
What to Expect:
• A welcoming, fun atmosphere
• A potluck meal—bring a dish to share (optional), or just bring yourself!
• Plates, cutlery, and drinks provided
• Community resources and exciting updates for 2025
Participating Organizations:
• Northeast Investment Cooperative (NEIC): A cooperative that allows Minnesota residents to invest collectively in buying, rehabbing, and managing commercial and residential properties in Northeast Minneapolis.
• Progressive Pathways: A multicultural nonprofit organization offering ideas and resources, particularly to urban youth, to help reduce socioeconomic disparities through knowledge, skills, and opportunities.
• Clare Housing: Provides a continuum of affordable and supportive housing options that create healing communities and optimize the health of people living with HIV/AIDS.
These organizations will have tables set up, providing information and resources relevant to our community.
We are also pleased to announce that candidates Iris Grace Altamirano, Amal Karim, Emilio Rodriguez, Abigail Wolters, Monica Meyer, Doron Clark, and Christopher Robin Zimmerman, who are running in the special election for Minnesota Senate District 60, plan to attend the event. This is an opportunity to meet the candidates and learn about their platforms.
Community Meetings
Typically held on the second Thursday of every other month from 7-8 PM.
These meetings often feature guest speakers who discuss various topics that impact the Holland Neighborhood, offering a platform for residents to stay informed and engaged in community matters.
At our last community meeting, we welcomed three fantastic speakers:
Abdirashid Ali – Crime Prevention Specialist, Sector 2
Elliott Payne – City Council President
Beth Burton – F Line/Central Ave Improvements Project
We are grateful for the valuable updates and discussions they brought to our neighborhood.
