Public Works has proposed a plan to build a new maintenance and storage facility to replace the current facility located on Washington Street NE. The project would create space for indoor vehicle storage, vehicle maintenance areas, and the opportunity to staff multiple city agencies in an office area. The project would also host areas for public art and green space with sustainable amenities such as stormwater capture systems, recycled building materials, solar panels, rain gardens and pollinator beds.
In order to complete the project as desired, the city would have to acquire and tear down the homes on the east side of University Ave NE from 27th to 26th Aves NE.
The project team came to our general meeting in October 2016 to present their proposed plans and gain feedback from the neighborhood. The full presentation can be found here (ESSMF_-_Holland_Neighborhood_Presentation_10-13-2016.pdf). They have also developed a Frequently Asked Questions page (Holland_Neighborhood_Presentation_Q__A.pdf).
